This youth recreational league is designed to maximize FUN for all ages and for all experience levels, while continuing to promote soccer skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 are welcome to play; no experience necessary. Please note: our spring and fall seasons offer different formats.

Spring Season

PQ Rec Soccer is introducing a new format for Spring 2024 - 7v7 games for U8-U14. The U6 age groups will still follow the 4v4 format to allow more touches on the ball. PQ Rec Soccer is for children from age 3 through 14. The coaches are parent volunteers who are trained by the San Diego Soccer Club professional coaching staff. Our program is designed to introduce and teach age-appropriate technical and tactical skills in an environment that will foster an appreciation and enjoyment of the game.

PQ Tots ages 3+ (co-ed): One hour of instruction by our very own San Diego Soccer Club Competitive Coaches each Sunday from 9-10am. No mid-week practices.

Boys and girls ages 4-14: These ages have separate teams for girls and boys. Practices are held 1-2 times weekly between 60-90 minutes. Locations and times are at the coaches’ discretion at one of our local elementary school fields within Poway Unified School District. All coaches are parent volunteers.  

Season Schedule:
All games are on Sundays from 9am - 4pm
Season Begins: March 10, 2024
Season Ends: May 19, 2024
No games on March 31, 2024 for Easter Sunday and No games on April 14, 2024 due to PUSD Spring Break

Registration Fees:

  • Registration Fees: $225 until 12/31/23, $250 starting 1/1/24

  • Registration Closes: February 5, 2024

  • PQ Tots: 1/1/20 - 12/31/21. Ball size #3. $160.

  • U6 Division: 1/1/18 - 12/31/19. 7 vs 7 format on mini-fields. Ball size #3.

  • U8 Division: 1/1/16 - 12/31/17. 7 vs 7 format on full-size fields. Ball size #4.

  • U10 Division: 1/1/14 - 12/31/15. 7 vs 7 format on full-size fields. Ball size #4.

  • U12 Division*: 1/1/12 - 12/31/13. 7 vs 7 format on full-size fields. Ball size #4.

  • U14 Division*: 1/1/10 - 12/31/11. 7 vs 7 format on full-size fields. Ball size #5.

*These divisions, U12 and U14, depend on the number of registrants in those age groups. Also, depending on the number of registrants, these teams might be co-ed.

Please Note:

  • Friend Request- If you would like to make a request to play with a specific PLAYER please type the First and Last Name of the Player in the field below. Coach requests will not be accommodated. We will try to honor requests but no guarantees. Friend requests are not considered unless player chooses a friend that chooses them back. Multiple friend requests will NOT be considered.

  • Team formation prioritizes team balance with regard to age and experience of players. We want the competition to be close to ensure a relatively enjoyable season for players and parents.

  • There will be practice 1 day per week.

We are always in need of volunteer coaches to work with the teams, please volunteer via the registration portal to sign up TODAY! All volunteer coaches are parents or high school-aged siblings. 

We have never played soccer, can I or my high school-aged sibling still coach? Absolutely! We rely on adults that want to be involved with their children. We offer coaching clinics and there are plenty of resources on the web for the beginner coach.

 

Fall Season

We will only be accepting ONLINE registration beginning on May 15.

Early bird discount rate is $225 until June 15. After June 15, registration is $250.

  • PQ Tots: 1/1/20 - 12/31/21. Ball size #3. $160. (Instructional only. No league games).

  • U6 Division: 1/1/18 - 12/31/19. 4 vs 4 format on mini-fields. Ball size #3. $225.

  • U8 Division: 1/1/16 - 12/31/17. 7 vs 7 format on full-size fields. Ball size #4. $225.

  • U10 Division: 1/1/14 - 12/31/15. 7 vs 7 format on full-size fields. Ball size #4. $225.

  • U12 Division*: 1/1/12 - 12/31/13. 9 vs 9 format on full-size fields. Ball size #4. $225.

  • U14 Division*: 1/1/10 - 12/31/11. 11 vs 11 format on full-size fields. Ball size #5. $225. 

Dates & times: September 9 - November 11, games every Saturday.

Practice and Game Location Information

Practices are held 1-2 times weekly between 60-90 minutes. Locations and times are at the coaches’ discretion at one of our local elementary school fields within Poway Unified School District. Permitted fields include Rolling Hills, Penasquitos Creek, Adobe Bluffs, and others. 

For the fall season, most games are played on Saturdays at Canyonside Park. U16-U19 will be playing in the So Cal Rec league, playing other clubs in the area.
